My crocheted bags derive from my urge to be busy creating and colouring in other places than my workshop. Creating a piece of work from clay or glazing while cosily sitting on the couch is not very practical and bringing clay on a holiday for instance, is no option. That's how, after my crocheted jewellery, my line of bags developed. So, crocheted bags, made of a mix of all kinds of yarn, wool, cotton, linen, embroidery silk, glossy and glittery thread and anything else that comes along. Sometimes, where applicable, buttons sewed on. Finished with colourful lining and contrasting pockets for keys and mobile phones. The matching shoulder straps are dyed where required and ornamented with glossy tape.
I started composing the colours of the bags by choosing a page from the book 'Rozenijs en Ridderspoor' by Gert Tabak and Hanne Kannegieter and finding together the full colour range in yarns. Now I also take pictures from other books, magazines and not only flowers but also birds. A true party in itself.
Practical: the bags are hand-washable with a mild detergent; some colour of the shoulder strap may come off, which is no problem if the bag is rinsed and slowly spin-dried at once. Just lay the bag nicely in shape on a towel and reverse it every now and then.
